In normal years it is estimated that around 600,00 workers suffer from work-related stress, depression or anxiety (new or longstanding) and over 12 million working days are lost to these causes. With added anxiety caused by Coronavirus, it is no surprise that this is a serious issue.
Previously the HSE launched a “Talking Toolkit” to help line managers have conversations with their staff on six key topics covering demand, control, support, relationships, role and change. The toolkit requires employers to make sure time is available for line managers and workers to have open and honest conversations.
In association with CONIAC, the Construction Industry Advisory Committee, the HSE are currently working on a draft version on the “Talking Toolkit” tailored to the particular issues associated with the construction industry.
You can download a draft version of the toolkit at https://books.hse.gov.uk/gempdf/preventing_work_related_stress_in_construction.pdf?utm_source=govdelivery&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=guidance-push&utm_term=toolkit-draft-download&utm_content=construction-sep-20
Any feed back you can provide will be used by the HSE to improve and develop the finished version
