A selection of new and updated guidance documents have recently been made available by the Fire Protection Association (FPA) covering charging electric vehicles and battery installations, these include:
“RE1: Battery Energy Storage Systems – Commercial Lithium-Ion Battery Installations” this provides guidance and risk control recommendations for grid-integrated commercial (non-domestic) battery energy storage systems, for example systems used to store energy from wind and solar systems so it can e released to the national grid when required.
“RE2: Lithium-Ion Battery Use And Storage” which covers more general use of rechargeable batteries and also includes risk control recommendations.

An updated edition of “RC59 Fire Safety When Charging Electric Vehicles” which provides good-practice risk control measures for the charging of electric vehicles using lithium-ion batteries.
