Managing risks in the workplace can have a number of benefits for the employer, the employee and others including making work safer, avoiding unexpected events, contributing to a positive workplace culture and successful project management, financial savings and saving time and effort, better decision making and communication.
So good risk management is vital, but too often risk assessment can become a box ticking exercise that does not lead to practical improvements in the management of risk.
The HSE have announced a free webinar to be held on 25th May 2021 covering Managing Risk: From Assessment to Control. Bringing your Risk Assessment to Life. This will feature a panel of experts from HSE including HM Health and Safety Inspectors, and NEBOSH who will discuss current guidance and principles in tackling risk.
There are 5 basic steps to managing risk. The first is to identify the hazards, then assess the risks, design and implement necessary controls, record your findings and finally review the controls you have put in place to make sure they are working.
Please speak to your normal PIB Risk Management contact or get in touch using [email protected] if you have any questions or would like assistance with assessing and managing risk in your workplace.
