An updated industry code of practice for “Preventing or Controlling Ill Health from Animal Contact at Visitor Attractions” has now been published by Access To Farms (ATF), a group of organisations who work together to improve educational access to farms of all types from small working farms through to large farm attractions with the aim of encouraging children and their teachers to make the most of farm visits.
The updated guidance includes chapters on risk assessment, practical control measures, the role of information in controlling risk, advice for teachers and others who organise visits and dealing with incidents and accidents. This can be downloaded from the Visit My Farm website at: https://www.visitmyfarm.org/component/k2/339-industry-code-of-practice
Please speak to your normal PIB Risk Management contact or get in touch using [email protected] if you have any questions or would like assistance with assessing and managing risks at visitor attractions.
